Legendary Banker Becomes an Apple Grower!
Veteran banker Burhan Karaçam, who left his mark on the Turkish banking world, is becoming an apple producer. Karaçam is entering the agricultural sector, one of the most popular investment areas of recent times.
On August 29, Karaçam founded a company called 'Moti Modern Agricultural Enterprises' and set his sights on apples and kiwifruit. Among Karaçam's partners at Moti are Ertuğrul Karaevli, who has been engaged in fruit growing in Thrace for the last 5 years, and banker Semih Tavlı.
The three partners, who are preparing to grow apples on approximately 350 decares of land about 5.5 kilometres from Çorlu, will benefit from Ertuğrul Karaevli's know-how in this field. Since 2006, Karaevli has been practising dwarf fruit growing in Thrace under the Karfrut and Fruti brands. His main production consists of apples, pears and plums...
Kiwifruit and grapes are next
Karaevli, an old friend of Burhan Karaçam, says: "We are almost the only example of fruit production in Thrace. We produce on a total of 1,200 decares of land. It is difficult to find large plots of land in the Thrace region. When we found the 350-decare plot, we bought it immediately together with Burhan and Semih."
