Biotechnical Control against Brown Marmorated Stink Bug in Çorlu
In Çorlu district of Tekirdağ, especially in apple orchards in the Sarılar and Yenice neighbourhoods, a fight has been launched against the brown marmorated stink bug pest, which causes serious yield losses.
Teams from the District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry place pheromone traps in production areas in the region to monitor pest density. Early detection and biotechnical control methods aim to protect both the environment and product quality by reducing the need for chemical intervention.
Large producers in the region such as Karfrut continue to protect product quality through orchard hygiene, regular monitoring and integrated pest management programmes. Authorities warn producers to report areas where they see the pest without delay.
