Gala

A summer variety of New Zealand origin. It is the only summer apple variety whose quality is gradually being accepted worldwide.
One reason for this is that some clones produce much more colorful fruit.

• The tree is quite vigorous
• It begins bearing fruit quickly and regularly
• Moderate thinning and pruning are required to obtain fruit of adequate size.
• The fruit is medium-sized.
• 40–60% of the skin is covered with orange-red stripes.
• The flesh is very firm and crisp, with a sweet flavor and is juicy.
• It can be stored for a long time.
• Harvest time is during the second and third ten-day periods of August.
• Harvesting must be spread over two or three passes to achieve color and quality.
